A 30-year-old Alabama woman is facing a capital murder charge after an early morning shooting in Fultondale left her boyfriend dead, according to police.

Fultondale police responded at 3 a.m. Saturday to the Shell station in the 600 block of Decatur Highway, just off Interstate 65.

They arrived to find an adult male with a gunshot wound to the chest. Fultondale medics pronounced him dead on the scene.

His name is being withheld pending the notification of his family.

Investigators said the suspected shooter, who was later identified as 30-year-old Aryan Shabrei Smith, fled the scene before police arrived. The shooting is believed to be domestic related.

Smith turned herself in to authorities later Saturday and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

Police said the shooting was an isolated incident.
