Police in Maryland arrested a 21-year-old woman in connection to the death of her 1-year-old daughter, according to authorities.
On Thursday, at around 8:30 a.m., officers arrested 21-year-old Aurielle Montgomery in the 500 block of Rocklyn Avenue in Baltimore County.
Detectives believe that Montgomery murdered 1-year-old Nyemia Gilliard on October 4, 2022, in the 2700 block of Ellicott Driveway, said the department.
Montgomery was taken by detectives to the Central Booking where she has been charged with first-degree murder.
Court documents also reveal that Montgomery is also facing first and second-degree child abuse, second-degree murder, and first-degree assault.
Authorities say, on October 4, 2022, officers were sent to the 2700 block of Ellicott Driveway, for a report of an unresponsive baby.
Once there, officers began to render aid to 1-year-old Nyemia Gillard but ultimately the baby was pronounced dead by medics on the scene, according to the department.
The victim’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
On October 18, 2022, doctors ruled the death to be a homicide caused by multiple signs of trauma, said authorities.
