A 12-year-old Texas boy was shot and killed in Fort Worth on Monday night, according to reports.

Fort Worth Police said they were called to Cook Children’s Medical Center after a child with a gunshot wound was brought to the hospital in a private vehicle. The boy died not long after his arrival in the emergency room.

Investigators learned the shooting took place at about 10 p.m. outside a strip shopping center along the 5500 block of Brentwood Stair Road on the city’s east side. A business owner in the strip shopping center said surveillance cameras captured kids running from the area but didn’t record the shooting.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim on Tuesday as 12-year-old Trey’Shawn Eunes. The medical examiner’s office said Eunes died at about 10:48 p.m. Monday but revealed no other information about his injuries.

Family members set up a GoFundMe to assist with burial and funeral expenses. You can donate here.

No information about what led to the fatal shooting has been confirmed by investigators. Fort Worth Police have not publicly identified any suspects in Eunes’ slaying and no arrests have been announced.
