A Georgia woman is dead following a shooting that took place near the city’s Hotel District neighborhood in Downtown Atlanta Wednesday night.
Atlanta Police officers responded to 400 W. Peachtree St. NW near Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard to calls of gunshots at 7:54 p.m.. When they got there, they found 28-year-old Breanna Woods shot multiple times; police said she was critically injured.
First responders arrived at the scene, where they pronounced her dead. The address appears to be the location of the Twelve Downtown Hotel high-rise building.
On Thursday, police identified 30-year-old Douglas Hairston as the suspect in the homicide. Police charged him with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony.
Police arrested Hairston at the scene and booked him into the Fulton County Jail on those charges.
