A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting death of a 9-year-old Ohio girl is now charged with her murder, according to reports.
Qasseem Dixon was charged with aggravated murder on Wednesday for the fatal shooting of Da’Myiah Pickens-Barton.
Allegedly, a man believed to be related to Da’Myiah had robbed him. The man recruited Dixon to go after the relative, the prosecutors said. They drove to the Plainfield Road residence where that person resided and Dixon shot “approximately 28 rounds” into it.
One of the rounds hit Da’Myiah, “causing her death,” the sworn statement reads.
22-year-old Demario Williams was arrested Tuesday with Dixon. He was arraigned this morning on a carrying concealed weapons charge.
Prosecutors said Williams was driving the car on Tuesday when he and Dixon ran from police, before they eventually crashed in Springfield Township. There was no mention of Williams having involvement in the shooting on Monday.
A grand jury is scheduled to review the case by July 24.
Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Curt Kissinger set Dixon’s bond at $2.5 million.
