Bedford Police in Ohio confirmed that the boyfriend of the missing woman found dead in Cleveland on Friday has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police said the body of 26-year-old Breneisha Lightfoot was discovered near E. 64th Street and Francis Avenue.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said Lightfoot’s body was found in a wooded area.

Police took Michael Roarty-Nugent into custody Friday morning.

Lightfoot’s family reported her missing on Tuesday, one day after her birthday. They told police they couldn’t get in contact with her. Officers went to her apartment and found evidence showing someone may have been seriously injured, police said.

When officers arrived at Lightfoot’s Colony Club apartment, they said they found evidence “indicating someone may have been seriously injured there.”

The victim’s boyfriend, Michael Roarty-Nugent will be in the Bedford Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. to answer to the murder charge.

The victim’s cause of death has not been disclosed at this point.
