A 41-year-old California man died of a gunshot wound shortly after midnight in Fresno, according to reports.

Police responded to the report of a gunshot victim in the area of Kearney Blvd. and Thorne Ave. in southwest Fresno.

Officers arrived and found a man, later identified as 41-year-old Nathaniel Ricks, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived but Ricks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and learned the shooting happened following a “physical disturbance” inside a residence.
