The dead body of Texas pastor who was reported as missing last week, was found Tuesday inside of a vehicle in Corpus Christi, according to reports.
David Cook of the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim as Phillip Loveday.
Loveday went missing on Wednesday, Aug. 2; when Loveday left his Corpus Christi home for work at about 9:30 a.m. and was never heard from again.
Search efforts had been ongoing for a week when police located a vehicle matching the truck Loveday was driving when he went missing.
The vehicle was found off county road 2444 in Nueces County, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department. A dead body was found in the truck, from what authorities said was due to a gunshot wound with no signs of suspected foul play.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene.
“At this time, we are waiting on the findings from the medical examiner’s office to complete their investigation,” CCPD stated on Facebook. “The case is still an active investigation.”
Loveday was a senior pastor at the Faith Christian Center in Freer. The church established a Facebook page Finding Phillip Loveday, which had more than 10,000 followers on Tuesday afternoon when the truck was discovered.
“As you have all seen and heard, law enforcement has found Phillip,” the Finding Phillip Loveday Facebook page posted on Wednesday morning. “His family and friends are heartbroken by this news. Please be courteous to the family as they mourn. We appreciate all the prayers, help, and suggestions. The outpouring of love and support from the community has been incredible. Please continue to pray for his family and friends.”
