The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating a shootout between a suspect and Madison County sheriff’s deputies, according to reports.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Oakfield Boulevard, just outside the city limits of Gluckstadt.
According to investigators, deputies were called about a domestic disturbance where someone had been killed. Madison County Coroner Alex Breeland later identified that person as 34-year-old Tiara Scott.
Johnson’s girlfriend and another person were also shot, but they survived, authorities said. Their names were not released.
When deputies pulled up to the scene, the suspect had a weapon, according to MBI. The suspect, identified by the coroner as 24-year-old Ladarrius Johnson, exchanged gunfire with deputies. The incident came to an abrupt halt with Johnson’s death in front of the subdivision swimming pool on Oakfield Boulevard.
None of the deputies involved suffered any serious physical injuries, authorities said.
“A tragic incident, domestic disturbance — that’s the way I would say it began. A young lady lost her life in the course of the actions,” Breeland said. “And after exchanging gunfire with Madison County deputies, the suspect ended up taking his own life.”
