A 20-year-old South Carolina man was fatally shot in North Charleston the evening of September 27, according to reports.
Jeremy Diquan Keyes was arrested the following morning in connection with the shooting. He is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to jail records.
According to the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD), the incident occurred at Zip’s Car Wash at Rivers Avenue. Officers responded to the area at 7:48 p.m. following a report of shots fired and at least one victim being down.
Police say the victim was lying on the ground in the car wash area with a gunshot wound. They provided treatment to stop the bleeding before EMS arrived and transported the victim. The victim later died from his injuries.
Keyes was identified as the suspect in the shooting. After being apprehended, according to jail records, he was booked at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center at 1:55 a.m.
The identity of the victim has not been released to the public, as of Sept. 28.
