A 15-year-old Wisconsin girl was killed and three more were hurt in a shooting in Madison Tuesday night, according to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes.

She’s identified as Kyesha Miller by her mother, Karnika Miller.

“There’s no greater hurt than that of a parent who loses a child,” said MPD Chief Shon Barnes during a press conference Wednesday.

A 14-year-old girl and two 14-year-old boys were also shot. According Barnes, the 14-year-old girl suffered a graze wound, and was treated and released.

A 15-year-old girl was killed and three other teens were injured in the shooting.

One of the 14-year-old boys was also treated and released. The other 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries but is considered stable.

Barnes said each of the victims are students within the Madison Metropolitan School District. Kyesha Miller was a sophomore at Madison East High School.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

It happened Tuesday night outside of the Harmony Apartments in the 5900 block of Milwaukee Street around 8 p.m.

Officers arrived and found Kyesha Miller suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital, and died there from her injuries. Her autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Barnes said surveillance video showed four people getting out of a car and firing “indiscriminately.” The driver stayed in the car, Barnes said.

According to Barnes, nearly 50 shell casings were recovered from the scene. Multiple homes were struck, including two homes occupied by children and families.

Barnes said detectives are following up on all leads. No arrests have been made.

The suspects can be seen in surveillance images above. The vehicle shown is believed to be a Lexus SUV.
