A Tennessee mother who fractured her infant son’s skull pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated child abuse and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to reports.
Christina Niles’s infant son suffered from a fractured skull, a broken arm and other injuries, according to prosecutors.
According to an affidavit, Niles admitted to throwing a toy truck and striking the infant in the head. This is when Niles believes the infant suffered the fractured skull.
Niles also admitted to previously holding the infant’s foot over the flame of a candle for about two minutes “because she was frustrated.”
Cheryl Hawkes, the victim’s grandmother, is due in court on December 1. She is also charged because officials said she knowingly failed to protect the child from the abuse.
