Authorities filed charges against a married Oklahoma couple accused in the 2020 deaths of a 37-year-old woman and her unborn baby in Chickasha, according to reports.
On Nov. 30, 2020, law enforcement found a pregnant woman dead at the Virginia Street Apartments near South Ninth Street and West Virginia Avenue. Authorities identified the woman as Ashley Cannon, who was pregnant and about three weeks from giving birth.
Police said at the time that two small children ran to a neighbor in the apartment complex, saying their mother was dead.
On Aug. 29, 2023, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation special agents presented evidence to the Grady County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities said the district attorney filed charges against two people on Nov. 8 in connection with the deaths of Cannon and her unborn baby.
37-year-old Kenneth Lee Johnson was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. His wife, 39-year-old Katrina Johnson, was charged with accessory to murder in the first degree.
Kenneth Johnson was already in custody at the Lawton Correctional Facility on a previous charge, according to OSBI officials. Katrina Johnson was arrested in Oklahoma City and awaits extradition to Grady County.
