A 23-year-old Florida man is accused of killing his mother after stabbing her in the neck on Tuesday, according to reports.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), around 7:19 a.m., deputies responded to 174 Chelsea Court in Port Charlotte. The caller stated that there was a physical altercation going on inside the home.
CCSO states, Connor Crumrine stabbed his mother, Jennifer Crumrine, in the neck. Two of Connor’s sisters were also in the home, struggling to grab the knife from him and call 911.
Connor also reportedly stabbed one of his sisters while she wrestled to get the knife away from him. She was stabbed in the back and had multiple minor cuts to her hands and arms during the struggle.
The report states that when deputies arrived at the scene, they found Connor’s mother with multiple stab wounds to the neck.
Emergency Medical Services treated Jennifer, who was in life-threatening condition. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.
Connor was found on top of his sister in his bedroom.
CCSO states Connor still had the knife. He was given commands which he ignored, resulting in him being tased. He was forcefully removed from the bedroom and detained at the scene.
There was blood on the inside of the home and on Connor’s clothing.
CCSO states the family had plans to go on a cruise Tuesday, but Connor had been making statements to the family the night before about heaven and hell and trying to teach them how to get into a fetal position. Connor was also making finger gun gestures.
The family locked their bedroom doors the night before out of fear.
Tuesday morning, Jennifer reportedly told her daughter she would not be going on the cruise. She was going to get Connor help at Charlotte Behavioral Health Care.
CCSO states Jennifer told Connor of her intent to take him for treatment, and he started procrastinating getting ready.
The report states while Connor’s other sister was on the phone, she heard her mother scream, “he’s stabbing me, he’s stabbing me.”
He was taken to the Charlotte County Jail and charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer without violence.
