Police in Texas are investigating a possible murder-suicide involving four people Monday morning at an Orange home, according to reports
On January 1, 2024 at 7:50 a.m., officers with the Orange Police Department were sent to the 2400 block of North 8th St. in reference to a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found four people dead inside the home from gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the Orange Police Department.
Orange Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Jenkins pronounced the four victims dead and autopsy’s have been ordered.
The victims found dead were later identified as 17-year-old Janiya Lewis, 34-year-old Porsha Kiel, 53-year-old Bobby Kiel, and 33-year-old Lester Lewis.
The deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide according to police, who say that there is currently no danger to the public as this is an isolated incident.
Sergeant Isaac T. Henry III with the Orange Police Department said they believe the gunman is one of the four dead.
It wasn’t until around 12 p.m. when police obtained a search warrant to enter the home and begin the investigation.
The relationship between victims has not yet been confirmed by authorities. However, Illicit Deeds was able to confirm the relationship between the victims from a Facebook post written by Bobby Kiel’s wife.
According to Ramona Barnes, Bobby Kiel is Porsha Kiel’s father and Janiya Lewis’ grandfather. Lester Lewis was Porsha Kiel’s husband and Janiya Lewis’ father. She also alleged that Lester Lewis was the shooter.
In Barnes’ Facebook post, she said:
“Hello all! I know you all were not expecting to hear from me. But here I am ! My husband Bobby Kiel , my daughter Porsha Kiel and my granddaughter JaNiya Lewis were murdered today by Lester Lewis. Porsha’s husband. I don’t want anyone speculatiing nor assuming anything. The news stations have lied on who he Bobby was and what has happened. But I just gave the world the exclusive . Those that know me know I don’t give a fuck what the worlds thinks. But because I will not allow his name to be slandered by the media . Here I am. Bobby was no saint but he was a wonderful father the best grandfather in the world. And the best man , I ever had. He was not a drug dealer , he was in the past but all those that know him knew he was a different type of man. So there you got it . So fuck Kevin Steele and his reliable sources. Please respect us in our time of mourning as I prepare to bury my family.”
While the investigation was underway, friends and family gathered behind the yellow crime scene tape.

On Monday, January 01, 2024, at 7:50 A.M., officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 2406 North 8th Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, it was discovered that four subjects were deceased inside the residence from apparent gunshot wounds. Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Jenkins later arrived on scene, pronounced the four subjects deceased, and ordered autopsy’s to be completed. This case is currently being investigated by the City of Orange Criminal Investigation Division. Although this is an active homicide investigation, the City of Orange Police Department is confident that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community. As the investigation continues additional information will be released. The following decedents are identified as Janiya Lewis, 17 of Orange, Porsha Kiel, 34 of Orange, Bobby Kiel, 53 of Orange and Lester Lewis, 33 of San Augustine.
