State police spent much of the day in the area of Chipper Drive, not far from Hockanum River Linear Park. Her body was found in a wooded area beyond the end of Driver Road, according to police.

Police said they are waiting for a determination on cause and manner of death from the medical examiner before being able to come to a conclusion.

“We believe we have a good grasp on what happened,” said South Windsor Police Sgt. Mark Cleverdon.

Cleverdon said at this time, police do not believe Edwards got into a vehicle with someone she did not know at the time she went missing.

State police were in East Hartford assisting South Windsor and East Hartford police with what they said is an “active and ongoing investigation” and South Windsor police had said the East Hartford investigation is related to the Jessica Edwards missing person investigation.

Members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner were on the scene. Earlier Friday afternoon, investigators appeared to bring a body on a stretcher out of the wooded area at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Police said they were able to focus on this area after receiving “technological data,” later clarified as location data from a phone.

South Windsor police said the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes unit was called in to help search Jessica’s condominium and that her disappearance is being considered suspicious.

Family members of Edwards could also be seen this afternoon at the scene.

Police said Friday that Edwards’ child is safe and with family members.

Later were at a scene on Fairview Avenue in Manchester that they said was connected with the disappearance of Edwards.

Police would not say at a news conference Friday evening what the specific connection the Manchester house plays to the investigation.

Jessica went to her mother’s house in East Hartford on Mother’s Day and South Windsor Police said Edwards’ husband told them he last saw his wife last Monday morning.

He said she got into a car with friends to go to a training session at Hartford Hospital, but he didn’t see the car or know the friends, according to police.

Police said Jessica called out of her clinical training at Hartford Hospital last Monday, police said, and that message was sent at 2 a.m. Monday.

Her phone is off and her vehicle was left at her residence.

South Windsor Police said they have been trying to pinpoint her every move from the moment she left her mother’s house on Mother’s Day to when she was reported missing the next day.
