New details emerged Saturday about the night Memphis Police said a man kidnapped and raped a federal employee.
According to an affidavit from Memphis Police, 31-year-old Antonio Taylor overpowered his parole officer during a check-up visit at the Jamesbridge apartments on South Advantage Drive in Memphis, Tennessee on Thursday.
Once he overpowered her, police said Taylor stole her gun, pinned her down and repeatedly beat and sexually assaulted her.
A woman who lives in the same building as Taylor talked to the news, recounting the frightening moments.
“I guess the parole officer came into the house and they were arguing and then a scream and then a gunshot went off,” the neighbor said.
Police said Taylor held the parole officer at gunpoint during the physical and sexual assault and beat her with the gun during the attack.

Eventually, the woman was able to escape and notified officers of the attack, according to police.
A standoff then ensued between Taylor and law enforcement, according to the neighbor.
“A couple of hours later, that’s when the police came and they wouldn’t tell us what was going on when they first got there but the FBI came and they asked me to leave,” the neighbor said.
The neighbor said that she was never made aware the Taylor, who records show was indicted in 2014 for statutory rape and arrested in 2019 for sexual battery, was a sex offender.
After her escape, she was taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering cuts and bruises to her forehead, neck and both legs during the assault, according to police.
Police reported that Taylor was previously convicted of aggravated assault in 2009, a crime that resulted in a 4-year sentence.
Taylor now faces 3 counts of aggravated rape, 1 count of aggravated kidnapping, 1 count of aggravated assault, 1 count of possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, 1 count of being a felon in possession of a handgun and 1 count of theft of property $1,000 or less.
