A 13-year-old girl was killed in a drive-by shooting while sitting at a picnic table outside an apartment building in North Carolina Saturday night.
The girl, who was later identified as Loyalti Allah, was sitting at the table with other children in Monroe, a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina, when she was shot around 8 p.m.
The girl’s family told the station she was waiting for a food delivery order at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses said a black 2005 Ford Freestyle SUV drove near the group and started firing without warning.
The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
No other children were injured in the shooting.
The vehicle has since been recovered by investigators.

20-year-old Demontre Robinson has been arrested in connection with the shooting but police are also searching for 19-year-old Darius Roland and 22-year-old Jamari Crowder as well as a fourth, suspect believed to be named Jamari, who goes by “Half Baby Hood.”
“I’m sorry for her loss. It didn’t mean to go down that way,” Robinson said as he was being taken into custody, referring to the girl’s mother.
“Our officers have done an amazing job in leaving no stone unturned to ensure the individuals who committed this crime are not only identified, but also apprehended and brought to justice,” Monroe Police Chief Bryan Gilliard said in a statement Sunday.
“These individuals took an innocent life for absolutely no reason, and now a family and community has to live with this forever,” Gilliard said.
