Law enforcement arrested homicide suspect D’Angelo Webb Saturday, October 9. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said that Webb was found inside a residence at the 40 block of Ambrose Avenue in Bay Point, California.

SJCSO announced on Twitter around 4:40 p.m. that Webb “surrendered safely and will be transported to the San Joaquin County jail.”

After being suspected of killing his former girlfriend, 24-year-old Brandi Hornsby in Stockton, California with who he shares a 6-week-old child, 24-year-old Webb started running.

“He can hide but he can’t hide forever,” said Sandra Mendez, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

Webb ran for four days.

“We checked every single one of those tips and the tip that we had received last night for today actually came through,” Mendez said.

A tip led investigators to a home an hour west of Stockton in Contra Costa County.

“He actually tried to run out, then he saw our deputies then ran back in the house,” Mendez said.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office helped evacuate everyone inside of the home, including some of his family members, before bringing in negotiators.

“They would tell him things like I know you’re scared, we don’t want to hurt you,” Alejandra Rodriguez, a neighbor said. “It sounds like they also brought the suspect’s dad, he was outside speaking to him so they went pretty far to make sure that he surrendered safely.”

Rodriguez had a front row seat to the standoff and was told to stay indoors after Webb told negotiators he was armed.

“I was pretty scared, and just not knowing the extent of what is happening and I think maybe the adrenaline, we’ll just run to the back of the house, I didn’t want to risk walking outside,” Rodriguez said.

Although the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said Webb didn’t want to come out of the home, after four days on the run and five hours with negotiators, Webb chose to surrender peacefully.

“You commit a crime in San Joaquin County, San Joaquin County does not stop until you’re caught and you’re brought in to answer for that crime,” Mendez said. “So he did the right thing, I’m really glad and I’m sure that the family is too, to be able to find some closure.”

Webb was transported from Contra Costa County to the San Joaquin County Jail and is expected to appear in court early next week.

In a Facebook post before the arrest, SJCSO said the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office Negotiation Team was speaking with him. Deputies said those who were inside the house have been evacuated.

Webb is the suspect in the death of 24-year-old Brandi Hornsby, the mother of a 6-week-old child. The San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office said that Webb stabbed Hornsby’s mother on Monday night after she went to check on Brandi. He then took off with Hornsby and a child. The child was later found and the body of Hornsby was found earlier this week.
