A couple found dead early Monday morning at a Paterson, New Jersey home died in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.
Police were called to 162 Redwood Ave at 7:45 a.m. for a report of a shooting and when they arrived they found 33-year-old Chacquese Barnes and 34-year-old Julius McCutcheon dead inside, according to a joint statement from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department.
Barnes appeared to have been fatally shot by McCutcheon, who then killed himself, the office said.
He was described in the statement as her “significant other.”
The shooting remained under investigation Monday afternoon but no suspects were being sought and there was no danger to the public, police said.
