Two female suspects were arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old girl in Denver, Colorado, Denver Police Department said Thursday.

Officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound at 2:12 a.m. on March 7 in the 2500-2600 block of Welton Street.

The victim was identified as 16-year-old Za’Riyah Monet Thomas.

Thomas was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to police. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and it was determined to be a homicide, according to 9News.

According to police, 19-year-old Shardae Rideaux was arrested for investigation of first-degree murder and 23-year-old Gabrielle James was also taken into custody and faces a charge of being an accessory to the crime.

Denver police said the probable cause statement for their arrests is sealed and that the district attorney’s office would make the final decision on whether to file criminal charges, according to The Denver Gazette.
