A Mississippi man is dead after a fight led to two teenagers shooting their mother’s fiancé in a drive-by at his Jackson home.

According to the Jackson Police Department, the two teenagers are in custody and facing multiple charges.

Hakemia Kelly was shot at his home on Thousand Oaks Circle around 2 a.m. Saturday. Police said Kelly and his fiancé got into an altercation. This allegedly motivated the fiancé’s kids to drive by Kelly’s home and shoot him.

“It starts at home. It starts with the parents. It starts with the children not having any activity outside of the home,” said neighbor Lala Antoine.

Antoine said she remembers her neighbor as a good person.

“To hear that he’s dead, is, you know, really heartbreaking. He was always there to help when I needed him,” said Antoine.

The 14 and 18 year olds are in custody and facing charges. The 18-year-old has been identified as Jamaire Taylor.

The 18-year-old has been charged with accessory to the murder, aggravated assault and drive-by shooting.
