An Alabama woman was shot to death in the parking lot of a Birmingham fast-food restaurant Sunday night.

The shooting happened outside of Church’s Chicken on Third Avenue North near the Smithfield community at 11:45 p.m. The restaurant had already closed for the night.

North Precinct officers responded to a report of a person down at the location. They arrived to find 25-year-old Darneshia Mosley, who was a mother, unresponsive from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported Mosley to UAB Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Lt. Rod Mauldin said the preliminary investigation suggests the incident was domestic in nature. A male suspect has been taken into custody.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call homicide detectives at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
