A Mount Airy, Maryland woman is facing capital murder charges after authorities say she killed a Limestone County, Alabama woman back in April using a kitchen knife and bowl.

39-year-old Diana Lynne Rogers has been indicted on charges of capital murder, second degree burglary and obstructing a governmental operation.

She is being held in the Limestone County Jail. Rogers was indicted August 10.

Rogers was charged in connection with an incident on Saturday, April 9. Deputies were called to the 1400 block of Maiden Court on a report of a burglary in progress.

Authorities said once they arrived, they found Rogers in the backyard, “acting suspicious” and trying to lead deputies away from the house. She later became irate and began fighting, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

After Rogers was handcuffed, deputies entered the house through the open back door and found the body of 58-year-old Melissa Gray, dead from injuries.
