A homicide investigation is underway after deputies said an 18-year-old was shot and killed in Kennewick, Washington.

On Saturday at about 11:42 p.m., deputies with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting involving two vehicles in the area of SR 397 in East Kennewick.

Officials said one vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and the other vehicle was seen driving north on SR 397 towards the Cable Bridge.

Deputies said another call came in around 11:47 p.m. about an 18-year-old woman who had been shot while inside a vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped in the area of 1st Ave and Benton St.

Officials said the victim, 18-year-old Jatzivy Sarabia, died from her injuries.

Benton County Sheriff’s Office detectives are working with the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab on the investigation.
