A 24-year-old Maryland man has been charged with murder in connection to a body that was found in a vehicle in northeast Baltimore on Friday night, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

On March 23, police said the family of 22-year-old Jeffrey Brooks, Jr. called officers to the 3100 block of Mary Avenue to file a missing persons report.

When officers arrived at the scene, police said family members stated that Brooks had not shown up for work earlier that morning and heard he had gotten into a physical altercation the night before with his roommate, 24-year-old Markis Russell.

Brooks’ car was missing and he was not answering his phone, police said.

On March 24, police said homicide detectives interviewed the family and gathered information, which led them to taking Russell into custody.

Russell gave a full confession to detectives and led them to Brooks’ remains, police said.

Police said detectives located Brooks inside his vehicle, which was parked in the rear of the 6800 block of Harford.

Brooks had a gunshot wound to his body, and his remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, police said.

Detectives charged Russell with murder, police said, and is currently at Central Book waiting to see a court commissioner.
