A Washington woman accused of killing her wife and kidnapping two children is headed to prison after being sentenced.

On April 27, a judge sentenced Chiloe Chervenell-Brinson to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to Murder in the First Degree recently. She admitted to killing Kathleen Chervenell-Brinson in Mesa.

She had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge on Aug. 16, 2022.

According to court documents, in the evening of Aug. 4, 2022, deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing woman that was possibly deceased in the 100 block of N. 1st Ave. in Mesa.

When deputies arrived to the area, they found a woman, later identified as Kathleen Chervenell-Brinson, dead outside the home.

According to court documents, deputies had found her body buried under a pile of bicycles and other items on a front porch of a house.

Deputies said two children under the age of 12 were missing from the home and were likely in danger.

A preliminary investigation led detectives to suspect foul play and develop probable cause to arrest Chiloe Chervenell-Brinson for the suspected murder.

Just a few hours later, the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a vehicle related to the incident near Irrigon, Oregon. Deputies stopped the vehicle and found the two missing children unharmed with Chiloe Chervenell-Brinson, their biological mother.

MCSO deputies arrested Chiloe Chervenell-Brinson and booked her into jail in Oregon. On Aug. 11, 2022, she was extradited from Oregon to Washington and booked into the Franklin County Jail.

The two children were transferred to the Oregon Department of Human services.

According to court documents, Chiloe Chervenell-Brinson already had a no contact order with Kathleen Chervenell-Brinson and the children.
