A 44-year-old Kentucky woman was shot and killed at a gas station in Louisville on Sunday evening.

Theresa Thomas died from multiple gunshot wounds sustained in the shooting at a Shell gas station at South 10th Street and West Broadway on Sunday, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Theresa Thomas, an employee who was off the clock at the time of the fatal shooting.

The manager said the mother of two was there to pick up a few items when a fight broke out.

He said a man walked inside the store, became aggressive with another woman in line, and demanded she took off her clothes.

That’s when Thomas and others tried to break up the fight, but he says when the man hit a customer with the back of his gun, it fired in Thomas’ direction.

EMS pronounced Thomas dead before officers arrived.

Homicide investigators are combing and canvassing the area for more information on what led up to the deadly shooting.
