A 22-year-old Nebraska man was arrested in relation to a double homicide in Douglas County on Thursday evening, according to reports.

Around 9 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the area of 89th Court and Sorenson Parkway for a well-being check, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

“The front door was unlocked. We knocked on it. We opened the door to check on her wellbeing. It was apparent something happened inside at that point,” said Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Captain Eric Sellers.

Deputies found two victims, identified as 30-year-old Marquesha Cannon and 55-year-old Lisa Cannon, dead inside the residence, according to authorities.

The suspect, identified as Fernandez Mason, was taken into custody for two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Mason is the son of Lisa Cannon and brother of Marquesha Cannon.

This investigation is still ongoing and deputies also want to know what led to the deaths.
