A 19-year-old Mississippi woman is dead, and two juveniles are charged with manslaughter after a shooting in Gulfport, according to reports.

Saturday, at approximately 12:54 a.m., Gulfport Police responded to the Wellington Place complex just east of Courthouse Road in Gulfport’s Bayou View neighborhood in reference to a shooting.

Gulfport Police say this was very likely an accidental shooting with dire consequences.

“They were handling guns and discharged a firearm,” Gulfport Police spokesman Jason Ducre said. “A bullet struck a 19-year-old and took her life.”

The victim is being identified as 19-year-old Alexis McLaurin.

The two teens charged with manslaughter are both 15-year-old boys. They are being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, each under a $1 million bond.
