A 33-year-old Texas man has been sentenced to 199 life sentences after he pleaded guilty to over 200 sex crimes involving children, according to reports.

Clayton Paul Williams was sentenced Wednesday for 201 counts involving sexual offenses against a child including aggravated sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

Williams admitted guilt for all of the charges, and as a result was given a life sentence for each of the 199 counts of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault, as well as two terms of 20 years for two counts of indecency with a child, according to a press release from the Nacogdoches County District Attorney’s Office.

“Although there were likely additional offenses, the defendant has had to answer for and has been held accountable for what we believe is a significant majority of the acts he perpetrated against the child and as such, it is unlikely that he will ever be able to harm another child,” the press release said.

Williams arrest in August of 2022 came after a family member became aware of the abuse and took immediate action to protect the victim and contacted law enforcement.

In order to protect the victim and family member, the sheriff’s office quickly obtained a warrant for Williams’ arrest based on evidence developed early in the investigation, authorities said. He was taken into custody in San Augustine on a single warrant on Aug. 13. An additional 14 charges of possession of child pornography were added after further investigation.

Anyone who receives information about or suspects child abuse should make a report to a local law enforcement agency by dialing 911, or calling 1-800-252-4500. Anonymous tips can also be placed with Child Protective Services by calling 711.
