An Alabama man was shot to death early Thursday inside a south Birmingham moving company, according to reports.

Birmingham police later Thursday identified the victim as 44-year-old Snir Lalum.

South Precinct officers were dispatched at 5:15 a.m. to Insta-Movers at 115 Walter Davis Drive.

When they arrived, they found Lalum suffering from a gunshot wound inside a warehouse bay. They attempted life-saving measures on him until Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived to take him to UAB Hospital.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later notified police that the victim had died at the hospital.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said it appears the unknown suspect approached the victim at the business, shot him and then fled.

Other employees were there at the time but no one else was injured.

“Detectives have not determined a motive,’’ Fitzgerald said.

Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
