Authorities have released the name of an Alabama man fatally shot while driving in west Birmingham in an apparent targeted attack, according to reports.

Birmingham police on Sunday identified the victim as Micah Honor. He was 24 and lived in Adamsville.

Honor had been honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp.

The shooting happened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday in Five Points West.

According to police, Honor was driving in the 2100 block of Bessemer Road when a suspect on foot fired into the vehicle.

The injured Honor struck several other vehicles before his car crashed through a fence and came to a stop in front of the small apartment abandoned building in the 2500 block of Warrior Road.

Honor was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said investigator believe the victim was targeted.
