One person in Georgia was killed and two others were injured in a shooting near Savannah High School and Savannah Early College on Monday, according to reports.

The Savannah Police Department said all three victims are males. One victim died and two others were taken to a Savannah hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Chatham County Coroner’s Office confirms the victim is 20-year-old Michael Hoang. Hoang was shot at least once.

A friend of his said what he believes went on outside of a home in the 1900 block of Harrison Street.

“They told me that he got shot, and he got jumped by the two guys that are in the hospital right now,” Daniel Morales said just hours after his friend was shot and killed.

He says the men were fighting over a woman.

“His girlfriend he has now… the guys who did the pull-up… that was his ex-wife. I guess Michael didn’t like the way he was talking to his wife and stuff, so he told them to ‘pull up and fight me,’” Morales explained. “I guess that’s what he did, but he brought a friend with them.

“It was going back and forth to the point where even the trailer right here, behind me got shot. The lady got scared, and she had to duck down.”

Morales, who also lives in the neighborhood, was working at the time but came home after he heard about his friend.

“I came through the back, and I saw his body. I don’t know if the ambulance tried to even try to take him to the hospital… even try to save him or not. We didn’t get an answer,” Morales said. “He didn’t even let them see his own son. His own dad didn’t get to see his own son. And I say, that’s messed up.”

The police department said the ShotSpotter call was received at 1:53 p.m.

No arrests have been made.

Harrison Street is near Savannah High School and Savannah Early College. A spokesperson for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System said the shooting did not impact operations at the schools.
