A 37-year-old Florida woman who was last seen more than a week ago has been found dead in her husband’s storage unit, according to reports.
It is believed Shakeira Rucker, a mother of four from Winter Springs, was last seen November 11. Her body was found Saturday, turning her disappearance into a homicide investigation, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded to the Self Storage at 2400 Wiggins Road in Apopka around 5 p.m. after someone complained about an odor.
“Shakeira’s family was notified this evening,” OCSO said in a Facebook post. “We grieve with them [and] our detectives are committed to bringing them justice in this case.”
Rucker was last seen leaving her home with her estranged husband, identified as Cory Hill. Hill was quickly named a person of interest when she vanished.
The two were seen on surveillance video leaving a Polk County restaurant together the night she was reported missing, investigators said.
Authorities said Rucker appeared to have died from gunshot wounds, but a full autopsy will be completed.
Officials say Rucker’s estranged husband Cory Hill is the prime suspect in this murder, and he is already in the Orange County Jail for shooting at his ex-girlfriend and her family.
Hill will be charged with the murder of Rucker. Officials said he has not been cooperative and the storage unit was registered to Hill.
Court records that show Hill was previously convicted and sent to prison for murder.
A video showed Hill in December 1992 in Suffolk, Virginia. He was featured in a news report after his car was stolen with his 23-month-old daughter inside.
She was thrown out the window but fortunately survived.
What Hill did weeks later was seek revenge against a suspect, Dontwoine Everett.
Police say Hill went up to Everett’s home armed and began arguing with him out front, with the fight ending in Hill firing a fatal shot.
According to Virginia court records, Hill was indicted for second-degree murder, convicted and given a prison sentence of 20 years.
Records indicate he was released in 2005 and later moved to Orlando in 2016.
