Police are charging a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man with murder after he allegedly shot a woman to death in Corsica, Thursday morning.

Dakota Hamner Greeley faces charges of criminal homicide, murder and two counts of terroristic threats in the killing of his girlfriend, Trisha Renee Cole.

State police from the Punxsutawney barracks were dispatched to the scene just before 10 a.m. Thursday, after a third party reported the murder and said that Greeley possibly wanted to commit “suicide by cop.” Greeley allegedly confronted troopers at the scene on Coyote Drive, firing two shots before fleeing in a vehicle. He went west onto Dickey Road before crashing in a wooded area, where he reportedly fled on foot. Just after 11:30 a.m., he was located and arrested. EMS personnel treated him on the scene, and he reportedly threatened to kill them.

A 30/30 lever action rival, which the third party had described as the murder weapon, was recovered from the vehicle. Cole’s body was found at the address on Coyote Drive with a gunshot wound to the head and a tire track over her body.

While being questioend by police, Greeley reportedly admitted to shooting Cole with the 30/30. Asked when the gun was, he reportedly chuckled and said, “It was in my hand.”
