Law enforcement officials in Texas have arrested a 53-year-old suspect in a Massachusetts murder that occurred on Christmas Day in Lawrence, according to reports.

Santana Guerrero Temporo was arrested on a fugitive from justice charge, according to Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office. The DA’s statement did not specify where in Texas he was arrested or how he was located.

Guerrero Temporo is wanted in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Diomaris Mejia, whose body was found Tuesday morning in a basement apartment at 243 Salem St.

Mejia’s family said she was a mother of two young children, a daughter and son, who are back in the Dominican Republic and that she had only been living in Massachusetts for about a year.

Mejia’s family said that she was stabbed and that she was in a troubled relationship.

Guerrero Temporo is expected to be arraigned next week on the fugitive charge, Tucker’s office said.
