A 38-year-old Florida woman was killed and a man was wounded in a shooting during a custody exchange outside of a pharmacy in Gainesville on Christmas Day.

Authorities arrested Amanda Janzen on Monday on charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, and child neglect.

According to the arrest report, Janzen, with 5 children in the vehicle, drove to the Walgreens store on Northwest 13th Street around 2 p.m. to meet for a custody exchange with the male victim. Jazen and the victim are both parents of an 11-month-old child.

Another woman, Anna Haslup Terrill, drove the man to the custody exchange.

In her car, Janzen pulled out a loaded gun, cocked it, and walked over to Terrill’s vehicle with the gun behind her back. Janzen shot Terrill three times, then shot the man three times. Terrill died from her wounds and the man was taken to the hospital.

Witnesses heard her say, “You made this happen.”

Five days before the murder, the court ordered custody of the 11-month-old to be split 50/50 between Janzen and the man.

After the shooting, Janzen returned to her vehicle with the five children inside and sped away. An officer nearby heard the shots and saw her vehicle leave the scene.

Authorities immediately began pursuing Janzen. She led officers and deputies on a 13-mile chase at speeds as high as 100 miles per hour. When the vehicle eventually came to a stop, Janzen dropped the gun and was taken into custody.

She is being held on a $2 million bond at the Alachua County Jail.
