Police say a 6-year-old Texas boy was killed after he was run over three times by a habitual drunk driver on Saturday.

52-year-old Pedro Alberto Hernandez is charged with murder and DWI third offense.

The deadly accident happened just before 6 p.m. outside a outside a laundromat on Leawood Boulevard off of Bissonnet Street on Houston’s Southwest Side.

According to the arrest report, the boy was walking across the parking lot with his family when Hernandez hit him.

According to records, the boy’s grandfather yelled at Hernandez, who then allegedly stopped, backed up and then ran over the child again, causing one of the tires to rest on the face of the child.

The grandfather continued yelling and Hernandez ran the boy over a third time.

According to records, the boy’s grandfather stopped Hernandez from fleeing the scene by pulling him out of the vehicle and pinned him until police arrived.

Hernandez allegedly told police that he consumed four 16-ounce beers while parked before he struck the child.

This isn’t Hernandez’s first run in police over drinking and driving. Hernandez has three other drunk driving convictions in three other counties going all the way back to 2015.

He is still serving 5-year probation for the 2020 DWI conviction.
