The North Carolina parents of a 4-month-old boy are facing felony charges after Sanford police arrived at a hospital to find the baby with severe traumatic injuries to the head, neck and spine.

Sanford police said the baby boy is on life support at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill and is listed in critical condition. Police received a report from the hospital on Jan. 3 about the baby’s injuries.

Police detectives determined the boy’s injuries stemmed from abuse that happened at a Sanford home where both Drake Conrad and Cassandra Conrad live.

29-year-old Drake Conrad is charged with felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. Authorities took him to the Lee County Jail on a $150,000 secured bond.

34-year-old Cassandra Conrad is charged with felony child neglect resulting in serious injury. Authorities took her to the Lee County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond.
