A 53-year-old Ohio woman shot by her teenage son Monday afternoon has died from her injuries, according to reports.

TPD officials say, 18-year-old Joshua Brown is facing a Reckless Homicide charge after allegedly shooting and killing his mother, Deborah Baker.

It happened in the 2200 block of Warren around 12:30pm Monday. First responders arrived and found Baker suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside the home. They took her to an area hospital where she later died.

Brown was taken into custody when officers arrived on scene. He was booked into Lucas County Jail and charged with reckless homicide, a third-degree felony.

“The defendant did hear someone walking up the stairs of the home, which caused him to become afraid. The defendant retrieved the handgun he had on his lap, walked out onto the hallway, and fired once from his handgun, striking and killing his mother,” said the police affidavit filed in Toledo Municipal Court, which noted that “the defendant did admit this during an interview” by police.

Four years ago, Toledo police posted on social media about Brown after he went missing from the home on Warren and was later found. The post described him as being high-functioning autistic, and having attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
