A murder investigation is underway in Ohio after a teacher and mother of two was found shot to death outside her home, according to reports.

Deputies responded to 50-year-old Michelle Long’s Butler Township home at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, after receiving a 911 call from her boyfriend, the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators say Long was found dead after she didn’t pick her son up earlier in the day, The Review reported.

Her boyfriend discovered her shot to death inside her truck, stopped in the driveway with the engine still running.

Long was a teacher at Leetonia High School for nine years, where she taught math and other STEM subjects, and also coached track and robotics, according to her obituary.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the killing, with help from the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.

Long was going through a divorce at the time of her death, officials said, adding that her ex-husband’s father was arrested on a charge of obstructing official business during a search by investigators, the outlet reported.

Long was also a mother of two boys and very involved in their lives and hobbies, her obituary read.

“Michelle enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always someone you could count on,” the obituary said. “Her smile and way of lighting up the room will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”
